A brief

Brodie has been exceptionally busy and I wanted to throw a post up for her to update on the Alaska life...one she has embraced entirely! She has made many of friends, is in band, taking piano lessons, babysitting (including overnight) neighbors and family friends. We survived the winter..though it was the easiest winter to survive. We got a TON of snow but went through a pretty early break up in January and now we are getting into spring and the sun rising at 7 am and not getting dark until about 10pm. We see Moose ALL the time. And Ptarmigans. And ravens. Christmas Eve we saw the most amazing Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) on display in our front yard. It was perfect. I will try to get her on here to update as soon as possible, hopefully with pictures too...but soon enough she will be driving (you get your permit here at 14) and I'm fairly certain I will never see her again! She's had a ton of fun riding snow machines, 4 wheelers, going cosmic bowling and listening to us boring parents stay on her about her school work. She sends her love....and has her headphones back in to listen to her music! Have a beautiful April!

Airplanes and The Colder Weather

Alaska was out of my original plans, for a moment I even disliked the idea of moving to a whole new place but the vision of my new home grew on me after a while. In my opinion, it'll be freezing and for the most part (in winter) I probably won't be doing anything special. After living in Arizona for five years I'd become tuned to the heat and the many different races and species of insect even if I disliked them. I, at the beginning, was afraid of the trip and the new and heard of and imagined bolder people there. Wouldn't you? Especially if it was a whole new area and space (and climate). What was weird about my mom's abrupt choice to move to the big freezing state was that she hates the cold, she loves the sun.. so I wondered at that more than anything. Until, I finally got mad enough and shouted at her till' I found out. I did. It wasn't the cold or heat, not the weather of the place but it was a matter of the person inside the place. Dad. After awhile, that's what made me accept the truth, we were leaving to Alaska. I still hated it, I would miss my new teachers and my long-term friends since 2nd grade and even the place I grew to know as my school and home. The truth, I believe, will be held in my new home Wasilla, Alaska but my real beloved past will always hold the feeling of home. Today, Friday 20th of September 2013 in Rancho Bella Vista, Arizona. From Arizona to Alaska, I say (almost) goodbye to Arizona. I will call this trip Airplanes and The Colder Weather. <3 Brodie Lynn Greer
